He proved it by using a glass prism. When a beam of white light is passed through a glass prism, it split's up into a band of colors called spectrum. This phenomenon is called the dispersion of white light. The spectrum of white light has the colors violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red (VIBGYOR). The sequence of seven colors obtained from the dispersion of white light is called the spectrum of white light. So, why do we get these colors?Different colors of light bend through different angles with respect to the incident ray, as they pass through a prism(on refraction). The red light bends the least while the violet light bends the most. Thus the rays of each color emerge along different paths and thus become distinct.Recomposition of lightIssac Newton was the first to use a glass prism to obtain the spectrum of sunlight. He tried to split the colors of the spectrum of white light further by using another similar prism. However, he could not get any more colors. He then placed a second identical prism in an inverted position with respect to the first prism. This allowed all the colors of the spectrum to pass through the second prism. He found a beam of white light emerging from the other side of the second prism. This observation gave Newton the idea that the sunlight is made up of seven colors. This phenomenon is known as Recomposition of light.Formation of RainbowRainbows are generally formed after rains. It is a concentric colored circular arc in the sky when the sun rays fall on raindrops during or after a shower. The small droplets of rainwater which remain suspended in the air just after the rains act as a prism. The white light enters from air to water medium. When white light from the sun enters the spherical raindrop, the light is refracted and dispersed. The different colors of light are bent through different angles. When different colors of light fall on the back inner surface of the water drop, it reflects them. The water drops finally refracts the different colors of light again when it comes out of raindrop. Because of this, we see a rainbow formed in the sky.For more information please visit: https://www.dronstudy.com/class-8-12-video-lecture-courses/#1476775986635-bf835880-81b9Call us at - 8287971571 or 0261-4890016DronStudy official website: https://www.dronstudy.comClass 10 Science Video Lectures: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKb9HOyS0VGTPNDNy9_R-akiSZGcerGlcClass 10 Science Full Course: https://www.dronstudy.com/shop/videos/class-x-science-2/#Dispersionoflight #scatteringoflight #Class10Sciecnephysics🔔 SUBSCRIBE or You'll miss out:Click here: https://www.youtube.com/c/dronstudytutors/?sub_confirmation=1
